What are your priorities?
Claire Mounier-Véhier: we want to save lives by making prevention an integral part of French women's lifestyles. In eight out of ten cases, the onset of cardiovascular disease can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle and regular medical check-ups.
Thierry Drilhon: We are mobilizing a range of partners and donors to offer women who need it most a comprehensive cardio-gynaecological screening. This mobilization also enables us to put them back on the care track, where they had previously been.
What are the main components of the success of the Women's Heart Bus?
CMV: It meets a strong demand for an "all-in-one" assessment. The assessment we offer thanks to the Bus makes it possible to obtain in two hours what sometimes takes 18 months, thanks to the presence of multiple expertises in a single location. The result is a multidisciplinary, intergenerational network of talents dedicated to women's health. This year, 4,620 women received free screening on the Bus.
TD: The principle of "going out to the regions" that we are implementing is a new way of approaching public health. Coming to a place where people live and work is less frightening than going to a hospital or doctor's surgery. The friendly atmosphere helps to reassure. The success of our action relies on the strong involvement of towns and cities, the expertise and experience of local healthcare professionals, the associative ecosystem and the solidarity of our benefactor and founding partners, including the Fondation Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière.
What is the initial assessment of Women's Heart Day?
TD: 18 Days were organized for this first year of deployment, offering screening to almost 1,500 women, in partner healthcare establishments, both public and private. This is a new initiative that meets a public health need, with the aim of covering all territories with 300 establishments.
CMV: we offer a six-stage screening program, with high-quality medical expertise. The aim is also to federate a virtuous ecosystem facilitating access to care for all women. More than 50 Days will be organized by 2025.
Will your new Scientific Advisory Board define research priorities?
CMV: it is working on clinical and epidemiological research projects, helping to improve preventive medicine and professional practices. It will initially capitalize on the work carried out as part of the Observatoire National de la Santé des Femmes.
TD: the 4th edition of our Observatory confirmed the worrying figures collected in previous years. 9 out of 10 women have at least 2 cardiovascular risk factors. The fact that women's specific needs are not sufficiently taken into account tends to lead to inadequate care, with symptoms that are less well identified. This is what we also want to change, through our research projects.
With the creation of the Journées du Cœur des Femmes Entreprises, you are emphasizing the role of the company in health prevention for its employees?
TD: Business leaders must take into account the health of their employees and integrate prevention time in the workplace.
A caring work environment helps to attract the best talent: prevention is also a channel for attractiveness and promotes the employer brand.
CMV: prevention is successful when it is integrated into daily life. It means acquiring the right reflexes, step by step, rather than imposing punitive constraints on already overloaded days. In partnership with occupational medicine, the company can act as a relay for prevention, by promoting healthy lifestyle habits.
Your community of Ambassadors has grown even more?
CMV: Nearly 3,000 healthcare professionals have taken part in our screening and awareness campaigns. They feel that they give meaning to their work as caregivers.
TD: It's a source of great pride for us to involve these thousands of experts in our approach, alongside women in vulnerable situations, welcomed throughout France, not forgetting all the volunteers committed to working alongside us.
