Together, let's feminize cardiovascular prevention

Cardiovascular disease is still perceived as a man's disease, despite the fact that it is women who die most from it.

In France, a woman dies of cardiovascular disease every 7 minutes. And yet, in 8 out of 10 cases, a healthier lifestyle, the identification of risk factors and regular medical check-ups can prevent the onset of the disease.
It is unacceptable that a woman should still die of a preventable cardiovascular disease.

Lack of awareness of the atypical female symptoms of heart attack, contraception that is contraindicated, a mental burden that is put aside, lack of time to take care of themselves because they put the health of others before their own, diagnostic errors... are all factors that can lead to heart disease.
are just some of the lost opportunities that need to be addressed.

Prevention is not an option: we are facing a societal emergency! As citizens, patients, healthcare professionals and public players, we can no longer tolerate losing 200 mothers, sisters, friends, daughters, grandmothers or colleagues every day without giving ourselves all the help we need.
colleagues every day without giving ourselves the means to act.

Our findings:
- Eight out of ten women are unaware of warning symptoms, which are often more atypical than those of men*.
- One woman in three puts off going to the doctor for lack of time*.
- Four out of ten women say they are not listened to during consultations, and their symptoms are downplayed!
- One woman in four considers herself to be in poor health*.
- Most cardiovascular research programs are carried out on men.
- Women's hormonal lives have an impact on their cardiovascular health.

Victims of medical inertia, too many women doubt their feelings, come up against erroneous or delayed diagnoses, and have treatments - sometimes inappropriate - imposed on them without explanation. We need to help them take charge of their own health,
so that they are no longer mere spectators of their symptoms.

For the past 5 years, the Fondation Agir pour le Coeur des Femmes has been running the largest national cardiovascular and gynecological screening campaign aimed at women in situations of economic, mental and health vulnerability.

Today, the challenge remains immense, but the opportunity is exceptional!

We need to go further with :
- Offensive prevention campaigns accessible to all,
- Medical training that takes full account of women's specific needs,
- Parity in medical research and clinical trials,
- Making women feel less guilty about taking care of themselves,
- Mobilization of public authorities, opinion leaders, researchers, associations, healthcare professionals, business leaders and the general public in favor of more energetic cardiovascular and gynecological prevention.

Our goal: to save 100,000 lives by 2030

Join us and support us. Together, let's alert, anticipate, act and save more lives.

Act rather than suffer: prevention is a generational investment!
