It is necessary to move

Standing up rather than sitting down doesn't actually reduce cardiovascular risk: static standing appears to be just another sedentary activity. What's needed is movement

According to a recent study by the University of Sydney, published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, standing does not cancel out the harm associated with a sedentary lifestyle. The researchers used data collected from the UK Biobank, representing 83,013 British adults without heart disease, followed for seven to eight years.

Standing for too long may even increase the risk of circulatory problems such as varicose veins and venous thrombosis.

The only good solution is to get moving as often as possible. Only movement can break the sedentary lifestyle and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Examples: taking regular breaks, getting up every two hours, walking, walking to a meeting, systematically taking the stairs, taking advantage of lunchtime to get away from your desk and move around a bit, etc.

Even if the sit-stand desk cannot really combat a sedentary lifestyle, it remains a valuable tool in the fight against musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
