It's better to eat early

An early breakfast and not too late dinner are associated with a lower risk of heart attack or stroke. Eating late, after 9pm, is associated with a 28% increase in the risk of cerebrovascular disease, compared with a last meal before 8pm, particularly in women.

Similarly, a person who eats breakfast at 9am is 6% more likely to develop cardiovascular disease than someone who eats at 8am.

These findings come from a study carried out on a sample of over 100,000 people from the NutriNet-Santé cohort, followed between 2009 and 2022. Cardiovascular disease is the world's leading cause of death, accounting for 18.6 million deaths each year in 2019, of which around 7.9 million are attributable to diet.
