I’m 61 and I love outdoor sports, the mountains and nature. Even my bout with breast cancer 30 years ago couldn’t knock me out of the game. Instead, it helped me heal. In 2017, during a period of enormous chronic stress due to family and professional commitments, I suddenly felt pain in my chest and even more pain in my jaws. I was briefly hospitalized in the cardiology unit where I had a normal coronary angiography and was diagnosed with coronary spasm. After that, activity was harder for me and I got very tired and out of breath. But it was unthinkable to stop hiking in the mountains during summer or winter—stopping would have put me into depression. Fortunately, I heard about Women’s Cardiovascular Healthcare Foundation on a radio show! They listened carefully, provided good recommendations and prescribed treatment better suited to this disease and my history (migraines, sleep apnea, etc.). I’m writing this today after a lovely Alpine hike with no pain! Thanks to you, life is wonderful!

“I didn’t have any chest pain when I had my heart attack. I had gastric pain deep in my sternum and I thought it was bad digestion. I also had pain in my back. I thought it was my spine, which had already been hurting. I tried to soothe the pain with a hot water bottle, but it still spread. I [...]
