Complementary risk factors

Certain cardiovascular risk factors are too often overlooked in women.

Complementary risk factors

The classic risk factors spontaneously spring to mind: sedentary lifestyle, smoking, poor diet, hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol... Specific risk factors are beginning to be taken more into account: age of first menstrual period, contraception, nome of pregnancy, hypertension during pregnancy, early menopause, breast cancer with radiotherapy... And finally, there are the risk factors that we don't always think about, but which play a major role in women's lives: psychosocial stress, violence, economic insecurity, social isolation, mental burden, migraine with aura... and perhaps above all, lack of self-esteem and difficulty in taking care of oneself. When you see your doctor, don't hesitate to talk about all this. What you feel deep down inside is very important.
