Women's Heart Day Arrives Under the Corsican Sun

Initiated by its director and organized by the Haute-Corse CPAM in partnership with the Bastia Hospital Center and Dr. Jaehyo Suhl (vascular physician and ambassador for the Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes Foundation), this initiative is part of a strong regional effort, carried out under the Intermunicipal Health Contract of the Bastia Urban Community with the support of the Corsican Regional Health Agency (ARS).
In Corsica, as elsewhere in the country, cardiovascular and gynecological prevention for women is a major public health issue.
This event represents a concrete and coordinated response, based on the early identification of risk factors and guidance toward an appropriate care pathway.
It fully illustrates the partners’ shared commitment to facilitating access to preventive care for all women, particularly those who are underserved by the healthcare system.
This inaugural event was a resounding success: 55 women from the Bastia region accepted the invitation. The appointment schedule filled up within a few hours, demonstrating women’s interest in this innovative initiative.
Teams of healthcare professionals and administrative staff from the Hospital Center and the CPAM have been fully engaged for several months to provide participants with an optimized care pathway at the SMR Cardio facility within the Bastia Hospital Center.
Numerous staff members—including doctors, nurses, physical therapists, midwives, prevention specialists, members of the CPAM Health Examination Center, and many others—volunteered to participate.
In the wellness area, women were able to meet with CPAM teams, staff from the addiction treatment, dietetics, and Diabetes Center departments, as well as the hospital’s social workers. The Sport Santé association was also present.
