This is my story and I wanted to share it with you. When health is good and everything's going well, we don't think for a moment about checking our heart. We even forget about it - it's there, doing its job without making a sound! That's exactly what happened to me, I didn't pay any attention to it even though it was struggling to beat properly and was failing.
What a sneak! My heart hadn't warned me. I had no symptoms, no shortness of breath, no trouble sleeping or swollen legs.
I can't thank my GP enough for telling me that my heart was going crazy and that I should get it checked out. In my misfortune, I was very lucky because it saved my life.
So on October 29, 2019, I underwent open-heart surgery for a thoracic aortic aneurysm with grade 2 aortic insufficiency (Valve with 3 so-called tricuspid flaps). In other words, my aorta was about to burst and my valve wasn't closing properly, so I had to take action!
I was afraid I wouldn't wake up, that I wouldn't see my little boy, my friends, my family and my cats again. I was afraid that my heart wouldn't restart and that the operation would be too much for it. I was lucky to be well cared for during this period and above all to have a very competent medical team at my side. After rest and cardiac rehabilitation, this nightmare is behind me. I'm so grateful to be still here, still alive.
Today, everything is fine (my cardiologist has assured me of this) and I'm so happy that I'm enjoying every moment. Life is so precious that you can't miss it. I have only one piece of advice: TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! Even more so in these difficult times.
No one is immune to heart problems, and even less so women of all ages, who are the first victims of cardiovascular disease. 200 women die every day in France, and 25,000 worldwide. In 8 out of 10 cases, this can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle and regular check-ups.
So let's all work together for women, as the "Agir pour le Cœur des femmes" endowment fund is doing. I'm more than committed to this cause, which is very close to my heart. Bravo for the work accomplished and for the "Heart Buses" for cardiovascular and gynecological screening, which will be going out to meet vulnerable women from September 2021; let's support them! Being detected is the only way to know and avoid the worst, and I know what I'm talking about!

Preserve the Heart of Women, they give it back so well !
When a woman's heart beats, life resonates and love radiates. Thank you to the Fondation Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes for fighting for these women! Victoire Finaz, chocologist
