SFHTA 2024 Congress: Women's health in the spotlight for prevention in action.

At the Société Française d'Hypertension Artérielle congress held on December 19 and 20, 2024 in Issy les Moulineaux, no fewer than 5 sessions were devoted entirely to the care of women.

Topics covered included hypertension in pregnancy, contraception, hormone treatment in menopause and emerging cardiovascular risk factors in the 3 key phases of hormonal life. A great opportunity for Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes to deliver warning messages and highlight its preventive actions through the voice of its spokespersons Professors Claire Mounier-Véhier & Geneviève Plu-Bureau, and the many ambassadors present from Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes.

Among other topics, the profile of women screened on the Women's Heart Bus between 2021 and 2023 was presented, as well as some of the tools available on the Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes website, including the "je prépare ma consultation" document. "As Claire Mounier-Véhier explained in her speech, "Asking women to fill in this self-questionnaire before their visit to the doctor saves time in terms of listening, clinical examination and therapeutic decisions during the consultation. Geneviève Plu-Bureau recalled the recommendations for hormone treatment at the various key phases in a woman's life: from contraception to hormonal treatment of the menopause, and focused on emerging cardiovascular risk factors, namely endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome. She concluded with a reminder of the importance of cardio-gynecological circuits for optimal care of women.

Proof of the interest shown by attendees in women's health and its specificities, these sessions were well attended and generated a large number of questions from participants. There's no doubt that future editions will continue to give pride of place to women's health.

Alert, anticipate and act: 3 key words for prevention in action, still relevant today in the face of the medical and social emergency of cardiovascular disease in women, which still kills one woman every 7 minutes in France. Let's continue to work together to improve our professional and social practices.
