For their first participation in the Rallye des Princesses, Laure and Maria, originally from La Baule, decided to highlight the actions of Agir pour le Coeur des Femmes throughout their journey.
At the wheel of a 1979 Spider Alfa Romeo flocked to the colors of the endowment fund, just like their driving outfits, they crossed the Hauts de France, Normandy and Brittany in this regularity race, accompanied by a hundred other 100% female crews.
This rally is just like prevention: a regularity race. Competitors had to keep to target speeds in certain 20-kilometer zones. They were flashed a dozen times to check that they were maintaining their time, and it all came down to the second!
The same goes for prevention, such as physical activity: there's no point in running for 2 hours on Sunday if you sit all week. Would it occur to you to brush your teeth 7 times on Sunday and nothing else the rest of the week?
Regularity is good for your health!
The final stage was held in La Baule on Thursday, May 19. Finishing in 22nd position, the two participants have nothing to be ashamed of in their performance. They took the opportunity to convey key prevention messages: identifying risk factors and atypical symptoms, the importance of cardio-gynecological monitoring, the importance of listening to your body and taking time for yourself. Simple information to combat the leading cause of death in women, because with coordinated prevention, 8 out of 10 deaths can be avoided.
Pr Claire Mounier-Véhier and Thierry Drilhon, co-founders of Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes, met them at the start and finish of the race. The crew rode to collect donations that will enable Agir pour le Coeur des Femmes to acquire medical equipment for its Bus du Coeur des Femmes.
