A Bus to the Heart of Precariousness

After taking an active part in the Avignon stage of the Bus du Coeur, vascular physician Dr Jean-Pierre Laroche talks on his Medvasc blog about the foundations of this initiative developed by Agir pour le Coeur des Femmes.

A Bus to the Heart of Precariousness

For him, the women who took part did so with enthusiasm, in a voluntary and rewarding process. To the 7 screening steps, he added an 8th in Avignon, vascular screening by ultrasound of the abdominal aorta. This examination provided an opportunity for vascular physicians to raise awareness of peripheral vascular disorders, which are largely under-diagnosed. In 2022, this stage could also include assessment of the risk of venous thrombosis through simple questioning and measurement of the Ankle Pressure Index.
