Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes is particularly pleased with this decision. Since its creation 5 years ago, the foundation has been stressing the importance of this essential consultation for the screening and management of cardiovascular disease to all those involved in public health.
Menopause is the 3rd key hormonal stage in a woman's life, after the first contraception and pregnancy. It requires very special attention.
It's also important to get the word out about menopause.
50% of women in France consider that it has an impact on their work... 10% of women in the UK say they have resigned from their job because of its symptoms... 20 to 25% of women have severe disorders identified as menopause-related...
It's a social issue, one of the last subjects still surrounded by taboos... 1 in 2 women doesn't even dare talk about it with her partner!
17.2 million women over 45 are already affected by the menopause. That's half of all women in France!
In a comprehensive parliamentary report, Stéphanie Rist has put forward 25 very concrete recommendations for changing attitudes and care.
These include a specific, long-term consultation for all women, as soon as the first signs of menopause appear, around the age of 45, integrating gynecological and cardiovascular aspects.
The aim is to identify any risk factors and, if necessary, provide hormonal treatment. The aim is to compensate for the deficiency of female sex hormones, in order to alleviate the most disabling symptoms: hot flushes, night sweats, mood disorders, etc.
A real advance for the health of all women.
