The Bus du Coeur 2024: a year of mobilization!

The Women's Heart Bus symbolizes a new approach to prevention

The Bus du Coeur 2024: a year of mobilization!

As the 2025 Women's Heart Bus tour kicks off, what have been the key lessons from its three years of existence?
Thierry Drilhon
: First of all, impressive figures. Nearly 15,000 women were able to benefit from a two-hour cardiovascular and gynecological screening. More than 2,500 healthcare professionals volunteered at 53 sites across France. With the support of local authorities and associations, we have demonstrated the effectiveness of prevention in action.
Claire Mounier-Véhier: the Women's Heart Bus has become much more than a simple screening operation, it's a gas pedal for the implementation of large-scale prevention. Assurance Maladie's investment alongside us and the work carried out hand in hand over many years have resulted in a development: since January 2025, every woman entering menopause receives a dedicated mailing for a consultation on cardiovascular risk, as part of the Bilan Prévention 45-50 ans.
Who is the Women's Heart Bus for?
CMV: it reaches out to all women, with priority given to those most at risk, those who don't have the time to take care of themselves, who find themselves in a situation of vulnerability (financial, medical, social...). At the end of the 10-step pathway, women who need it are taken care of and reintegrated into a cardio-gynecological care pathway.
TD: by involving the entire local health ecosystem, the Bus brings effective screening as close as possible to where women live.
It helps to educate healthcare professionals about women's specific cardio-gynecological risks, and to raise awareness among the general public. Little by little, we are moving the lines of prevention, to prevent cardiovascular disease and save ever more lives.
What are the main ingredients for the success of this type of action?
TD: the Women's Heart Bus combines the strong involvement of towns, the expertise of local healthcare professionals, the associative ecosystem and the solidarity of our funding partners. We are also demonstrating that the corporate world now has a role to play in health prevention.
CMV: only collective action mobilizing local players can be truly effective in the long term. Local roots are essential. It's not enough to stay in a town for three days a year... We're helping to build a multidisciplinary, cross-generational network of talent in the service of women's health, to save lives on a daily basis. It continues to exist when the Bus is gone.
Is the Bus contributing to a new vision of prevention?
CMV: if curing is an imperative, preventing is the strategic challenge of the years to come.
Preventing cardiovascular disease in women must be at the heart of public health concerns. It cannot be repeated often enough: a woman dies of cardiovascular disease every 7 minutes in France. And yet, 8 out of 10 women can be prevented from developing the disease through a healthy lifestyle, screening for risk factors at key hormonal stages in life, and regular medical check-ups. This requires active and educational prevention in the field, which is caring and guilt-free.
TD: every player in society has a role to play: the general public, by taking the time to learn about risk factors; healthcare professionals, by training in the specifics of cardio-gynecology; local authorities, by deploying schemes that benefit the greatest number; public authorities, by moving away from the "all-cure" model; and companies, by making the health and well-being of their female employees one of the driving forces behind their growth. This multi-channel, inter-generational synergy, organized around a medicine focused on caring and performance, is the DNA of Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes. Prevention is not a cost, but an investment.

History

On this June day in 1912, in this avenue as wide and silent as a cemetery alley, a young woman still hesitates to ring the doorbell of a handsome, opulent building. Behind this door, however, hides the woman she has come to meet, the star of the age: the great Sarah Bernhardt. She has just returned [...]
