The Groupe d'Etude sur la Ménopause et le vieillissement hormonal (Menopause and Hormonal Aging Study Group) is a multidisciplinary think-tank on menopause and hormonal aging, led by a Scientific Committee of 25 members from 9 medical or surgical specialties, chosen for their recognized and complementary expertise in the field of menopause (www.gemvi.org).
GEMVI's objectives concern the medical profession, healthcare professionals, public authorities, the media and the general public:
- Information on established facts in the field of menopause, hormonal aging in men and women, and their consequences on health and quality of life, as well as on current and future advances in diagnosis and treatment.
- Training and medical research on these themes.
- Participation and scientific exchange with European and international experts in these fields.
GEMVI is aimed at women entering menopause and throughout this key hormonal phase. The menopause is a real turning point in a woman's life, and we owe it to ourselves to anticipate and support these women in order to act effectively and preserve their quality of life. On its website (www.gemvi.org), a special section is dedicated to the general public, with answers to their questions, news and an information sheet.
Agir pour le Cœur des femmes relies on the community of gynecologists, who are often the primary care physicians for women. Gynecologists are key players in this preventive medicine for women, identifying women at cardiovascular risk, raising their awareness of the importance of a preventive lifestyle, alerting them to the importance of targeted screening for their CV risk factors and coordinated cardio-gynecological follow-up.
GEMVI and Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes wish to work together to reverse the progression of cardiovascular disease. Act rather than suffer, before it's too late. Preventing rather than curing, that's the ambition that gynaecologists have always had in their day-to-day practice, and the ambition of Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes.
The French Ministry for Equality between Women and Men, Diversity and Equal Opportunities is supporting Agir pour le Coeur des Femmes in all its initiatives to give all women equal access to healthcare and prevention.
