Check-ups really do reduce mortality

Check-ups really do reduce mortality

A study published in BMC Medicine shows that the health check-up offered since 2009 in the UK to adults aged 40 to 74 reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and death in those who have received it.

"This positive result is linked to "earlier detection of risk factors such as hypertension and high cholesterol", say the authors. The medical records of around 100,000 people were analyzed, with an average follow-up of nine years, reports Delphine Chayet in Le Figaro https://lnkd.in/e4vsjcCX.

People who underwent a check-up were less likely to be diagnosed with dementia, myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation (irregular and often very rapid heart rate), acute renal failure and cirrhosis, as well as lower all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.

So take care of yourself and don't hesitate to ask for "Mon Bilan Prévention", offered by the French Ministry of Health https://lnkd.in/eT8Wf5f6

In 2024, Agir pour le Coeur des Femmes will once again be offering free cardio-gynecological screening to women who need it most, in 16 towns and cities where the hashtag#busducoeurdesfemmes will be taking place, with a total of around 5000 women taking part.
