In the event of cardiac arrest, women lose out because they are afraid to touch their breasts
A British survey reveals that 33% of British men fear being accused of inappropriately touching a woman in public during CPR.
46% of men would feel less comfortable using a defibrillator on a woman, as they would have to remove her clothes to place the electrodes on bare skin.
Yet using a defibrillator within the first three minutes of cardiac arrest can increase the chances of survival by up to 70%.
It's important to get to the bottom of these fears, because in these circumstances, it's time to act.
Regardless of gender, when it comes to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, every body is the same, the technique is the same, and everyone deserves the best possible chance of survival.
