The world's largest cardiovascular disease screening campaign launches its 3rd edition

On March 8, to mark International Women's Rights Day, the Women's Heart Bus hit the road again. In Cannes, the first of the year's 15 stopover towns, over 250 women took advantage of free cardio-gynecological screening. Set up in the heart of the Cannes La Bocca district, the pink bus, surrounded by its Health & Well-Being village, welcomed the women of Cannes under a radiant sun for three days.
Agir pour le Cœur des Femmes, in partnership with the town and local health professionals and associations, has set up this scheme to combat the leading cause of death for women in France: cardiovascular disease (heart attacks, strokes, heart disease...). With 200 deaths a day, 80% of which could be avoided through ad hoc prevention, Pr Claire Mounier Véhier and Thierry Drilhon, co-founders of the operation, stress the importance of alerting the general public and institutions to this medical and societal emergency. Far from being a one-off operation, the Women's Heart Bus is above all about building a cardiovascular and gynaecological care pathway alongside local healthcare professionals, both liberal and hospital-based. The aim is not to offer a one-off screening, but rather to encourage the long-term provision of appropriate care in the Cannes area, with a recurring approach.
Based on the principle of "going towards", the bus goes as close as possible to where women live, and makes medical appointments less dramatic, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, to create a reflex: women, take care of your health!
