This is the progressive dilation of a segment of the abdominal artery, which can rupture as it enlarges. This becomes a life-threatening emergency. If you're 50 or over and one of your parents has had an aneurysm, or if you're 65 or over, especially if you smoke, have high blood pressure or are overweight, this screening is for you. A simple ultrasound scan is all it takes. Prevent rather than suffer aortic rupture. Talk to your doctor.
