I went through a really stressful time when I lost my little boy during the sixth month of my pregnancy. It was my second pregnancy in less than two years. I was exhausted and had a really hard time accepting this loss. A few weeks later, I had digestive issues for several days, with gastric problems and nausea. I was riding my bicycle when I felt intense fatigue. When I got back to the house, I had really strong chest pain. My husband took me to the emergency department. I was having a heart attack. One of my coronary arteries was tearing. The doctors talked about a large coronary artery dissection, which is a typical trigger for heart attacks in young women. Fortunately, the medical teams were able to save me. When I got out of the hospital, I had cardiac rehabilitation sessions that were really good for me. I also changed my contraception. I had to go back to work part time, but with coronavirus, everything stopped. Since then, I’ve been really stressed and I’m putting off any physical activity for fear that the heart attack will come back. I feel guilty for being anxious even though my medical condition has stabilized. I started doing sophrology sessions and will do yoga as soon as I can.

I had been taking combination birth control pills since I was 16 for acne and I continued to self-prescribe them. I didn’t have the time to see a gynecologist because I worked too much and had kids to take care of. I didn’t have any significant medical history, apart from a family history of [...]
